At Percy, we're building new ways to connect talented professionals with meaningful career opportunities at leading companies in the multifamily industry. We're currently seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support an affordable (Section 8) apartment community in Rockford, IL.

This role is ideal for a reliable, self-directed technician who enjoys general repairs and unit turns and wants a steady weekday schedule with overtime opportunity. You’ll handle a mix of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, diagnostics, and make-ready work. HVAC certification is not required, and candidates from handyman or single-family backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Complete day-to-day work orders including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs

• Diagnose issues and perform hands-on fixes to keep apartments and common areas operating smoothly

• Support unit turns by completing repairs and helping with make-ready tasks (including light paint/cleaning as needed)

• Participate in an on-call rotation (about every other week) and respond to after-hours needs as required

• Assist with seasonal needs such as snow removal and related overtime work

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in apartments, single-family, or general residential settings

• Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical troubleshooting and repairs

• Ability to complete unit turns and work efficiently in vacant units to meet readiness timelines

• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle

• Comfortable working on a small team and taking ownership of daily priorities

Perks

• Total compensation up to approximately $50,000 annually (base pay plus unit-turn bonuses and overtime), with top base pay of $22/hour
